Good Answer...

...to a question nobody is asking:

Why the Media Doesn’t Cover Jihadist Attacks on Middle East Christians
"The United Nations, Western governments, media, universities, and talking heads everywhere insist that Palestinians are suffering tremendous abuses from the state of Israel. Conversely, the greatest human rights tragedy of our time—radical Muslim persecution of Christians, including in Palestinian controlled areas—is devotedly ignored.

The facts speak for themselves. Reliable estimates indicate that anywhere from 100-200 million Christians are persecuted every year; one Christian is martyred every five minutes. Approximately 85% of this persecution occurs in Muslim majority nations. In 1900, 20% of the Middle East was Christian. Today, less than 2% is.

In one week in Egypt alone, where my Christian family emigrated, the Muslim Brotherhood launched akristallnacht—attacking, destroying, and/or torching some82 Christian churches (some of which were built in the 5th century, when Egypt was still a Christian-majority nation before the Islamic conquests). Al-Qaeda’s black flag has been raised atop churches. Christians—including priests, women and children—have been attacked, beheaded, and killed."
[---]
"Nor is such persecution of Christians limited to Egypt. From Morocco in the west to Indonesia in the east and from Central Asia to the north to sub-Saharan Africa to the south; across thousands of miles of lands inhabited by peoples who do not share the same races, languages, cultures, and/or socio-economic conditions, millions of Christians are being persecuted and in the same exact patterns…

Muslim converts to Christianity and Christian evangelists are attacked, imprisoned, and sometimes beheaded; countless churches across the Islamic world are being banned or bombed; Christian women and children are being abducted, enslaved, raped, and/or forced to renounce their faith.

Far from helping these Christian victims, U.S. policies are actually exacerbating their sufferings. Whether in Tunisia, Libya, Egypt, or Syria, and under the guise of the U.S.-supported “Arab Spring,” things have gotten dramatically worse for Christians. Indeed, during a recent U.S. congressional hearing, it was revealed that thousands of traumatized Syrian Christians—who, like Iraqi Christians before them are undergoing a mass exodus from their homeland—were asking “Why is America at war with us?”

The answer is that very few Americans have any clue concerning what is happening to their coreligionists.

Few mainstream media speak about the horrific persecution millions of people are experiencing simply because they wish to worship Christ in peace.

There, is of course, a very important reason why the mainstream media ignores radical Muslim persecution of Christians: if the full magnitude of this phenomenon was ever know, many cornerstones of the mainstream media—most prominent among them, that Israel is oppressive to Palestinians—would immediately crumble.

Why? Because radical Muslim persecution of Christians throws a wrench in the media’s otherwise well-oiled narrative that “radical-Muslim-violence-is-a-product-of-Muslim-grievance”—chief among them Israel.

Consider it this way: because the Jewish state is stronger than its Muslim neighbors, the media can easily portray Islamic terrorists as frustrated “underdogs” doing whatever they can to achieve “justice.” No matter how many rockets are shot into Tel Aviv by Hamas and Hezbollah, and no matter how anti-Israeli bloodlust is articulated in radical Islamic terms, the media will present such hostility as ironclad proof that Palestinians under Israel are so oppressed that they have no choice but to resort to terrorism.

However, if radical Muslims get a free pass when their violence is directed against those stronger than them, how does one rationalize away their violence when it is directed against those weaker than them—in this case, millions of indigenous Christians?"
[---]
"In short, Christian persecution is the clearest reflection of radical Islamic supremacism. Vastly outnumbered and politically marginalized Christians simply wish to worship in peace, and yet still are they hounded and attacked, their churches burned and destroyed, their women and children enslaved and raped. These Christians are often identical to their Muslim co-citizens, in race, ethnicity, national identity, culture, and language; there is no political dispute, no land dispute."

Justice!

Michael Mann Faces Bankruptcy as his Courtroom Climate Capers Collapse
"Massive counterclaims, in excess of $10 million, have just been filed against climate scientist Michael Mann after lawyers affirmed that the former golden boy of global warming alarmism had sensationally failed in his exasperating three-year bid to sue skeptic Canadian climatologist, Tim Ball. Door now wide open for criminal investigation into Climategate conspiracy."
Oooh. This just got a whole lot more interesting. I can think of a whole slew of "scientists" who should be sued. Not only that, but a big bunch of people who will be jumping off cliffs and window ledges.

Dear Lamestream Media...

....I don't care if Justin Bieber puked while on stage.  I'm not interested in baby starlets, or for that matter, even adult starlets. But Bieber is a human being, and as such, I think he deserves some dignity. Give it a rest, will you?

Heavy sigh!

This is one of the main reason I cancelled my cable subscription several years ago and put my TV in storage. I'm certain I will never go back. You seem intent of keeping us uninformed and feeding us syrupy pap. Sorry. Not interested.

I Hereby Would Like to Announce...

...that the concept of customer service is dead as a doornail.

I've been trying to book a two-way flight from Regina to Edmonton and back again, so I can visit certain grandchildren. But, noooo.

I wanted to used Westjet, because they have provided excellent service in the past, so I called their toll-free number. And guess what I got. A machine asking me to respond to various questions. The voice on the machine gave a range of options for answering each question, and, apparently it used voice recognition software.

To make a long story short, I gave up and was steaming mad by the time I did, so I called another number and booked the flights by speaking to a real human being. (Poor guy had to deal with one very-unset-mad-as-hell-and-not-going-to-take-it-anymore customer.) Turns out they charge an arm and a leg for every little thing under the sun they can think of to exploit and further anger the customer.

I was sorely tempted to hurl my cell phone across the room, but I constrained myself.

It would have been far simpler to just drive, but that's a very long way from here and I'm not crazy about driving long distances much of which is empty roads.  I'm too old and so is my car.

But I'm too old for this shit, too. Long ago I quit using Air Canada because their service was so lousy. There seems to be very little in the way of other options, other than one or two American airlines, which, if there is a next time, is what I think I will do. American Airlines and Delta used to service both cities. I hope they still do.  I prefer to use Canadian airlines out of loyalty and patriotism, but if you suck, it ain't my fault.

And Westjet. You suck!!

Well, If We Have to Take Him...

...back, let me recycle an old idea of mine, from the Iraq war days. I had a plan back then to take So-Damned-Insane and put him in a specially constructed prison at the north end of Ellesmere Island, where he could bask in the 24 hours of sunlight for a few weeks every year (and freeze in the dark, for the remainder). But then they went and hanged him, instead. Oh well. I still think it's a good idea.

Oh Those Middle Eastern Dictators...

...can always be counted upon to give their people exactly what they want. After all, that's what our leftards tell us. But what are they gonna do when they're at odds with the hallowed UN?

Syrian onslaught in Homs appalls UN
"The High Commissioner for Human Rights, Navi Pillay, told the UN General Assembly that Syria was launching indiscriminate attacks against civilians and accused the Syrian army of implementing a “shoot-to-kill” policy.

“The nature and scale of abuses committed by Syrian forces indicate that crimes against humanity are likely to have been committed since March 2011,” she said.

“I am particularly appalled by the ongoing onslaught on Homs,” Ms. Pillay said, noting that government forces have been using tanks, mortars and artillery in the assault on the city.

Her comments came as European powers welcomed an Arab League decision to ask the United Nations to send a joint peacekeeping force to Syria, although Moscow cautioned a ceasefire is needed before peacekeepers can be deployed."
Of course, I would have to ask, what's the point of sending "peacekeepers" in where there is no peace to keep. If anything, what's needed is a full-scale force of fully equipped warriors. But does the West have the stomach for it?

The Chief thug in Syria certainly knows how to oppress his people. But that's what they want, right? And the UN is as useless bedraggled alley cat.

Charter Rights And Occupiers: A Judgment From The Bench

The limits to occupation
"On Monday, Justice David Brown of the Ontario Superior Court of Justice issued a lengthy decision weighing the various rights and interests in play. Ultimately, Justice Brown found that the City of Toronto was entitled to enforce its trespass bylaw and to require the occupiers to vacate St. James Park between midnight and 5 a.m., and to remove the structures they have built there.

His decision likely will figure heavily in other cities confronting this issue."
[---]
"Justice Brown acknowledged that the protesters in Toronto’s St. James Park are engaging in activity protected by the Charter of Rights. Contrary to those who make much of the fact that the Charter nowhere mentions the right to “occupy public parks,” Justice Brown correctly noted that our civil liberties are not defined by specific activities, but the meaning that they hold. Thus, it is not the right to “occupy” that is at issue, but whether by such occupation the protesters are expressing political opinions (freedom of expression), living out sincerely held convictions (freedom of conscience) and attempting to form a common front to influence public discourse (freedom of assembly and association). The Charter guarantees everyone the ability to fashion their expressive and associational activities as they wish. If the protesters believe that their message relies on a particular physical structure (say, a “tent city”) then that structure becomes part and parcel of the Charter-protected activity. If the protesters believe that their message relies on prolonged occupation, then their desire to remain in the park indefinitely (or, at least, longer than the City might wish) is similarly protected.

But that, of course, is not the end of the story. The Charter’s rights and freedoms are protected only to the extent of such “reasonable limits” as are imposed by law. No right or freedom is absolute — that is the price of a civilized society."
[---]
"Justice Brown seemed particularly persuaded by the non-protesters who explained the impact on them of having St. James Park rendered virtually off-limits (although it should be noted that these were anecdotal reports and the protesters disputed that characterization). Strikingly, he spoke of the need to keep urban parks as “oases of tranquility” rather than “battlegrounds of competing interests.”"
[---]
"...the protesters have a difficult argument in the idea that the Charter guarantees them an exclusive right to control the extent and degree of their occupation of a public space designed to be open to and used by all. The decision confirms their right to occupy, but imposes limits on it."
And soooo, sanity prevails:

Canadian Occupy protests on the ropes
"Authorities in Quebec City and Calgary have removed Occupy protesters' tents — all of the tents in Quebec City and the ones that sat empty in Calgary Monday night — but despite the City of Toronto's victory in court Monday, authorities there have yet to make their move.

At 11:30 p.m. Monday, a half hour after Olympic Plaza in downtown Calgary had legally closed for the night, bylaw officers began dismantling any tent that didn't have a person inside.

Tickets were issued to the dozen or so people still living in the park space."
[---]
"While police were there to back up bylaw, Bruce said there would be no arrests for those opting to continue to stay at the park.

"We're going to ask them to remove them. If they don't, we'll charge them," he said. "This is exactly what we said we'd be doing.

Loaded to near-capacity was a large Budget moving truck, filled with the unoccupied tents and any materials found inside them.

When the truck left, there was just eight "lived in" tents, a warming tent and an information tent left behind."
[---]
"In Quebec City, officials tore down the remaining tents at the downtown Occupy encampment. The park was cleared by 7:30 a.m. and police say no arrests were made.

City spokesman Jacques Perron said the camp was dismantled in the early morning because many of the protesters were absent.

“It avoided confrontation and it allowed us to clear the entire area,” he said.

Meanwhile in Montreal, Mayor Gerald Tremblay on Monday asked occupiers to leave.

He had originally told protesters they could stay as long as they complied with fire department rules.

However, Tremblay said safety could no longer be guaranteed on the site after a local paper reported on a series of violent altercations at the encampment over the weekend."
[---]
"In Toronto, a judge on Monday upheld the city's eviction order for the protesters camped out at St. James Park.

Some occupiers masked their faces with bandanas, barricaded their ragged, nylon tents with wooden skids, chained themselves to yurts, and bellowed anti-establishment rhetoric as the sun set."
[---]
"Hours after the judge upheld the eviction order, St. James Cathedral, which owns a chunk of the greenspace, ordered them off the church's land. Protesters had considered the property a possible source of sanctuary should police move in.

On Tuesday, the protesters plan to march with labour leaders to Nathan Phillips Square at 4 p.m., where a rally is planned."
Of course, we'd have to have unions involved this way. And hah!! Even the churches are pissed off. Too bad, so sad.

Don't You Wish Journalists...

...understood science?

You and 6,999,999,999 other people
"If our numbers are beginning to challenge the ecological carrying capacity of the globe, it is only through our own success. Whether we can save ourselves from extinction will depend largely on what got us here in the first place: human ingenuity."
Yes. Yes. Yes. It's entirely possible homo sapiens have reached the max. We may have to deal with the consequences, but we are hardly the first or only species to reach the precipice of the carrying capacity of the eco-niche that sustains us. That does not mean we will become extinct. It only means we may experience a die-off that returns the planet to a more balanced place. That is how species and carrying capacity operate. A species that meets and then exceeds the carrying capacity of it's niche will begin to experience stress and, as a consequence, enough will die that the balance will be restored. It's not the end of the species. Just the end of the stress created by over population. Sheesh, you people. I guess if global warming hysteria hasn't worked you have to dig up some other pseudo-scientific scam in order to keep your jobs. I have a better idea. In order to "save" the planet, or even the species, why don't you volunteer to go first?

Is European Multi-Culturalism Done For?

Muslims must embrace our British values David Cameron says

Before that, there was Angela Merkel:
"What I mean to say is that for years, for decades, the approach was that integration was not something that needed to be addressed, that people would live side-by-side and that it would sort itself out by itself," Merkel said.

"This turned out to be false. What in fact is needed is a political effort and an effort by society as a whole to make integration happen ... Diversity in society is something that has always made our country stronger."
[---]
"Speaking after hosting a one-day "integration summit", Merkel said that immigrants and their descendants had to speak German in order to play a role in society and live up to German "values."
[---]
"This followed weeks of anguished debate sparked by the huge popularity of a book by a central banker saying that immigrants, in particular Muslims, were making Germany "more stupid."
[---]
"Merkel said before the gathering that Germany had much work to do, with children from immigrant families twice as likely to not complete their schooling than other children.

Her main focus is on improving German language skills, something she sees as key to improving immigrants' prospects in the labour market."
[---]
"The government says it will spend around 400 million euros (560 million dollars) by 2014 on improving the German language skills of young children of immigrants so that they can perform better once they go to school.

It is also seeking to help immigrants get their foreign qualifications recognised in Germany, and to boost the number of immigrants and their descendants working for the civil service and in law enforcement.

Merkel's cabinet last week agreed new draft laws against forced marriages and tough measures against immigrants who fail to integrate into society, for example penalties for failing to attend "integration courses."

"Hundreds of thousands of people from all around the world are well integrated here. Today's integration summit should give immigrants the courage to follow suit," Merkel told the Passauer Neue Presse local daily."
And now, it's Sarkozy!!
""If you come to France, you accept to melt into a single community, which is the national community, and if you do not want to accept that, you cannot be welcome in France," the right-wing president said.

"The French national community cannot accept a change in its lifestyle, equality between men and women... freedom for little girls to go to school," he said.

"We have been too concerned about the identity of the person who was arriving and not enough about the identity of the country that was receiving him," Sarkozy said in the TFI channel show.

British Prime Minister David Cameron, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, Australia's ex-prime minister John Howard and Spanish ex-premier Jose Maria Aznar have also recently said multicultural policies have not successfully integrated immigrants."
[---]
"Sarkozy said in his television interview Thursday that "our Muslim compatriots must be able to practise their religion, as any citizen can," but he noted "we in France do not want people to pray in an ostentatious way in the street."
Stick your asses in the air somewhere else, folks. The Parisian shopping district is a poor choice, and don't tell me you didn't know that:

Now, how long will we have to wait for Canada to review its policy. I'd like to see the initiative come from the authors of said policy themselves, though - the Liberal Party of Canada. But - cold day - hell -- and all that. And no, dear leftards. That's not raaaaaaacism. Racism refers to skin colour, not to values.
