BWAWAWAWAWA!!

 I normally don't agree with the vandalization of election signs, but I'll make an exception with this  this one.

Hope This Holds

2015 Canadian federal election projection

If the cons are watching, now would be a good time to call an election.

Libs = 123
Cons = 143
NDP = 66
Greens = 2
BLOC = 4
Others = 0

I wonder which riding the extra "Green" will come from? Likely the left coast.

Sierra Club Canada Foundation Has Been Sent a Letter from Friends of Science Requesting Retraction of Climate Change Billboard Blog
"In response to the Friends of Science climate change billboard campaign, the Sierra Club Canada Foundation published a blog piece on December 4, 2014, making claims about the Friends of Science funding and inciting followers to join in an on-line email campaign against the billboard company. Friends of Science says this challenges their Canadian Charter Right of Freedom of Speech, as well as defying the Sierra Club’s own stated mandate."

Smooth sailing as Great Lakes levels continue their rebound
"The story of improving Great Lakes water levels can be discerned in the things unheard this summer — such as complaints.

Record snowfalls last winter, coupled with a rainier-than-usual spring and summer, have Great Lakes levels recovering faster than they have in decades.

With a second straight year of rebounding from record-low lake levels, gone are the panicked harbormasters, concerned marina owners, grumbling charter fishermen and befuddled freight shippers. No longer are city officials expressing an urgent need for dredging funds."
I'm sure there are some greenie-weenie babies that will be very disappointed with this news. They've always wanted their catastrophe scenarios to come true, just so they can say they told us so.

He, he, he, he, he, he

They are talking about this over here. I guess James Hansen struck a cord with the already converted. What a sorry, self-recriminating bunch! I'll bet you they had their knickers all in a knot when we sent American "war resisters" packing not long ago. Sorry folks. This is not the old Canada of your fairy tales and dreams of the past. We've moved on. Time for you to do the same. One good thing about these folks, tho, is that some of them have chosen not to reproduce.

Oh, and do read the first link. It's hilarious. "Eco groups" are going to "black out" their websites for one day. Everything will come crashing down. Life as we know it, will cease to exist. Stock up now. Head for the hills.

Oh, and this is just for you doom and gloom folks posting at that website:

Need, justification for Keystone grows
"Establishment of the pipeline would reduce U.S. dependence on oil from the Middle East and South America. It represents private investment and will create jobs, especially during construction. The pipeline will help move crude oil from western North Dakota to southern refineries in a way that’s safer than by truck or rail -- safer for the environment and people on the road in this state’s oil patch."
[---]

"Approval of the pipeline has now moved to the negotiating table between U.S. House and Senate as conference committee members began work on a multi-year transportation bill. The possibility of the pipeline surviving the conference committee continues to improve.

Obama administration friend, billionaire Warren Buffett, has lined up behind Keystone, along with major players from business and industry. “There are an awful lot of pipelines running in the United States and net, they’re certainly been a huge plus for the country,” Buffett said. He makes practical case for the pipeline."
[---]
"In North Dakota the intensity of oil exploration and development continues to grow. The risk of having an accident on the state’s western highways has greatly increased. Safety for the motoring public has been put at risk by the high volume of truck traffic, which could be reduced by more pipeline capacity. Increased safety on North Dakota roadways makes a good case for the Keystone pipeline.

Moving oil by pipeline also is safer for the environment than shipping it by truck or rail."
Not that you'll read it.

And Speaking of ...

...environuts:

Ecosystems dependent on snow and ice 'most threatened' This will not be welcomed news in all quarters:
"“The vulnerability of cool, wet areas to climate change is striking,” said Julia Jones, a lead author of the study. In semi-arid regions like the southwestern United States, mountain snowpacks are the dominant source of water for human consumption and irrigation. Research by Jones and her colleagues showed that as average temperatures increase in these snowy ecosystems, a significant amount of stream water is lost to the atmosphere. The study involves more than thirty years of data from 19 forested watersheds across the country. All of the study sites provide water to major agricultural areas and to medium and large cities. But, like many long-term studies, this one revealed a surprise. Water flow only decreased in the research sites with winter snow and ice. “Streams in dry forested ecosystems seem more resilient to warming. These ecosystems conserve more water as the climate warms, keeping streamflow within expected bounds,” Jones explained. "
[---]
"According to Andrew Fountain, lead author of another LTER study, “The cryosphere, or the part of the earth affected by snow and ice, has been shrinking. The populations of microbes, plants, and animals that depend on the snow and ice will decrease if they are unable to migrate to new areas with ice. But life that previously found the cryosphere too hostile should expand.” In shallower snow, he explained, animals such as white-tailed deer, mule deer, elk, and caribou expend less energy and can more easily escape predators. “One species’ loss can be another species’ gain,” said Fountain."
However, over at CBC, they are gloating uncontrollably, even if some of the commenters are poking fun. And at the Financial Post (ooooh, big oil, etc., etc., etc.) we are being told that knowledgeable conservatives no longer have much respect for scientists:
"Gauchat in his study strives mightily to disentangle his subsets of data and explain the mysteries of conservative thinking. Yet had he not been obsessively preoccupied with conservatives in what advertises itself as a study of the broad public’s trust in science, he could have stepped back from his data and seen it for what it actually shows. The conservatives aren’t the oddity; the true-believing liberals are."
PS: Gotta love the sole comment at the bottom of this scaremongery. Good to see somebody out there still understands basic science.

You Win Some...

...you lose some.

My guy lost. ;-(

But in other news, this just goes to show that environuts are, well, nuts, not to mention latte sipping fools.  Hope you enjoyed your hour in the dark. I mean, really, what does a professor of sociology and environmental science know outside of leftie ideology. I guess the efficacy of an accusation of raaaaaacism is wearing a little thin. Now it has to be "deniiiiier", 24/7. Yawn.

If it wasn't for all those big neon signs and billboards, I'll bet you even Toronto would have shown an increase or at the very least, no decrease, in power consumption over the much over-exalted Earth Hour.

Charles,...

...are you available? I wanna marry you.

Yup. The "loyal" (Cough. Hack.) opposition is having a hay day. Except for the Libs, there's no need for any serious investigation or evidence. Just charge the Cons with "voter suppression", then declare the Cons guilty as charged.  Journalists, on the other hand, are being surprisingly level headed. Could it be they've actually detected which way the wind is blowing and have decided blatant partisanship in the media is "not good for democracy"?  Nah!! Can't be. Certainly not the taxpayer funded one, in any case:
"The Conservatives denied knowledge of the calls, which were traced to Edmonton call centre Racknine. What is clear is that the deed is not being taken lightly. When we polled readers as to whether punishment for voter suppression should be more severe, over 96 per cent of 3490 readers said 'Yes.' The vast majority of CBC Community members were outraged at the tactic and called for drastic action."
Oooooh. 3490 people out of a voting population of, what, maybe 24 or 25 million? And that protest in Vancouver, it had anywhere from 200 to 250 people in attendance. And what's Greater Vancouver area's population? In excess of 2 million. Not good enough, Libby.

Now, THAT'S not good for democracy.

I predict this will backfire on the usual suspects, big time. I can hardly wait.

BWHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

Record amount of carbon emissions released in 2010: report
"Humans pumped out 10 billion tonnes of carbon emissions in 2010 after rebounding quickly from the global financial crisis two years ago, scientists report.

Researchers with the Global Carbon Project say emissions climbed 5.9 per cent in 2010 to hit 10 billion tonnes. That is a whopping 49 per cent increase over 1990 — even though Canada and other countries pledged to cut emissions as part of the Kyoto Protocol."
Notice they always include photos of smog or other particulate saturated air in their stories about global warming, which of course, have nothing to do with CO2? And that bit about "Canada and other countries"? You'd think they'd make their propaganda a little less obvious, wouldn't you? But maybe not.

Too Bad They Don't Allow...

...comments

THE EARTH’S ATMOSPHERE (WITH AND WITHOUT MAN).

"Still, skeptics cry foul. They say “Sure, the study shows the Earth is warming, but it doesn’t prove humans are the cause.”

Point taken.

Now, perhaps questions have to be asked of skeptics. What then is causing the warming? If it’s some kind of cycle, what causes the cycle? Is it just coincidence then that temperature has risen during the same period as global industrialization? What has man added to our precious onion-skin-thin atmosphere during this period of industrialization, say 1850 to now? Take humans out of the equation: What would the atmosphere be like without them?"
Hasn't read much, has he/she/it?

Heavy Sigh

If you ever needed proof that climate change hysteria is a product of our resident water mellons, here it is:

Science confirms conservative white guys are more likely to deny climate change

Why Conservative White Males Are More Likely To Be Climate Skeptics

Why conservative white men are more likely to deny climate change

Yup. The mask has slipped. This never was about climate. It's classic class warfare, brought to you by lefties wearing a green mantle.

Gotta say one thing for them though. They sure are tenacious. Maybe they know if they lose this one, they're history.
