Three Guesses...

Saturday, March 08, 2014

I'm Bad!!

"Bless me Father, for I have sinned. I have been with a loose girl."

The priest asks, "Is that you, little Joey Pagano?"

"Yes, Father, it is."

"And who was the girl you were with?"

"I can't tell you, Father. I don't want to ruin her reputation."

"Well, Joey, I'm sure to find out her name sooner or later so you may as well tell me now. Was it Tina Minetti?"

"I cannot say."

"Was it Teresa Mazzarelli?"

"I'll never tell."

"Was it Nina Capelli?"

"I'm sorry, but I cannot name her."

"Was it Cathy Piriano?"

"My lips are sealed."

"Was it Rosa DiAngelo, then?"

"Please, Father! I cannot tell you."

The priest sighs in frustration. "You're very tight lipped, and I admire that. But you've sinned and have to atone. You cannot be an altar boy now for 4 months. Now you go and behave yourself."

Joey walks back to his pew, and his friend Franco slides over and whispers, "What'd you get?"

"Four months vacation and five good leads..."

Blame it on Facebook.

Luv It

Hey!

If I were to use the name I was always known as, Louise, even though it's my 3rd given name, I would be a Fierce Beast. I'll stick with that. Up until now I've always liked the fact that "Louise" means warrior maiden. I'm down with either one.

Round-Up

I'm not a big fan of little pop flash-in-the-pan starletdom, as personified by Justin Bieber, but there are creepy people who stalk these starlets. This is a story that is really, really creepy:

Justin Bieber: Two men accused in plot to murder pop star

Leave him alone. He's just a kid.

And speaking of kids, here's a really interesting article about Malala Yousufzai

Her nomination for the Nobel Peace Prize has stirred some debate in Pakistan, which is good:
"The government seems to have moved a resolution in Parliament to declare Malala Yousufzai as daughter of the nation. Pakistan’s top dignitaries have also visited the UK, in recent days, to meet the young girl heroine whose name has also been proposed for the Nobel Peace Prize. Given the attention she has received lately from all over the world as appreciation for standing up for her right to education and that of other girls, there is also a possibility that she may even be seriously considered for the award. However, I am tempted to ask the question if it is a good idea in the first place.

I would also like to make it clear that I have endorsed her nomination with an open heart and my objection has got nothing to do with her but how we as a state and government, or even a society, tend to react to winning an award. There is a high probability that once we, as a state, bag the Nobel through Malala, our entire focus will shift on the prize rather than the problem behind it."
Maybe the reputation of Nobel Peace Prize can be redeemed at the same time, but I'm not holding my breath.

Last, but not least:

Plants grow in space despite lack of gravity

There are some advances in science that have great potential to be beneficial to humankind and Mother Gaia, but I fail to see what application this will have down here on earth where gravity sucks. But, you never know. I'm down with science for the sake of science.

"Love Rhyme"

I've been assembling pictures, mostly of my life: the valley in which I grew up, old black and white pics of myself and siblings growing up, etc., etc., which I intend to have framed and hung on a wall in my living room. I was looking for a certificate from the Provincial Dept. of Ed. that attests to the fact that I did graduate from high-school. Haven't found it, but maybe it was a figment of my imagination, however, I did find a two copies of an official transcript of my grade 12 marks, so that will have to do.

In the file folder where all this stuff was stored I found a poem, written by my darling daughter. She must have been in about grade one or two when she wrote it. It makes me smile each time I read it. She called it a "Love Rhyme", so here it is, exactly as t'was written. [ Errors are in the original, but they help to make it cute. She must have had help from the teacher with the spelling of the word "rhyme".]:

"Mothers are mean.
Mother's are nice!
Here's my edvice
She is nice
She makes tarific rice.
ice and apple slice!
My mom is the best!
She's better then a butifsle
gest!
My mom is great!
She's never laete!
She nose how to skeate
She is so loving!
She likes huging me and
my brother!

(I have no idea what 'butifsle' means - maybe beaufifulest".)

At the bottom she drew a picture of a melting ice cube, a pile of rice and apple slice with a fork in it, and there's little hearts all over the paper. Even her exclamation points have hearts, rather than a dot, at the bottom.

Cute, or what!

I must say, I heart her, too. She's 32 years old now. Where does the time go?

Hmmmmm

Isn't incitement to commit murder a criminal offense in Britian?

UK Islamists issue fatwa against Pakistani schoolgirl shot by the Taliban

Hope to see them hanging from a crane.

Ya, I know that won't happen, but if the UK police don't arrest and charge these creeps with incitement to murder, then I will renounce my ancestry.
