Prime Minister Julia Gillard said there is no place for religious punishments in Australia.

I don't follow Australian news very closely, so I can't say much about PM Gillard, but I have to wonder if, having taken a hard and courageous stand against Islamism, her soft stand on AGW is some sort of compensation or nod in the direction of Aussie green leftards, or should I say was some sort of compensation...

A politician is a politician.  Unless you lose your bid for office and turn, instead, to the lecture circuit promoting AGW and raking in the big bucks, then you're Al Gore.
