Reminds me of the time my ex and I went on a big trip to the Middle East. On our way back we had six hour stay in Paris, so we went downtown to see the sites, the Eiffel Tower being one. But it was 6:00 am and nothing was open. Damn Frenchmen./sarc
PS: None of these articles say anything about the perps who did this. I think I can be forgiven for assuming they were Muslim terrorists.

Would they be stupid enough not to let the authorities know?
It's probably against the rules to base jump from the tower. Hence they would have to sneak in to do it. It's all about the challenge and bragging rights. Or they could be Islamist Idiots looking to destroy a landmark. They like doing that kind of stuff.
Not that long ago Islamists rioted in Paris over some stupid cartoons.
