Ach, Louise, you just don't get it: this is a mandatory part of the game. I still fondly recall the first series of Canada/USSR games, when these fights were practically enforced by the referees. Good time was had by all!
You know, I have to confess I am very unCanadian like. I'm not particularly crazy about hockey, especially since the NHL expanded into markets where the ice is artificially produced. It goes against the natural order of things. Plus I'm also not crazy about the brawls which seem to be an indispensable part of the game.
