Hey, how about the 1984 "Miracle on Ice", when our Yankee Olympic hockey team beat the heavily favored Soviet team?!
(Ain't it grand, never having to use the execrable word "Soviet" any more, even if former KGB Col. Putin doesn't like it?! Thank you, President Reagan, PM Thatcher and Pope JP II for collaborating on delivering the coup de gras :-)
I don't remember that, but I do remembering attending a "double header" in Saskatoon featuring the women's teams (from Canada and the US.) The Canadian girls won both games quite handily, but what I remember most is the sad, despondent look on the faces of the American team. The really sucked and they knew it. I felt really sorry for them. The crowd game them a great round of applause to show them their efforts were appreciated.
Nyet! Ney! Soviet! Dah! Dah! Canada!
How's your autobiography coming along?
