Yes, "how the mighty are fallen..." Sad, indeed.
One may consider America and the Commonwealth Anglophone Democracies, along with the regrettably thin veneer of British Civilization in Britain's former colonies, along with formerly Great Britain itself, as the fruits of British Civilization. The Spanish-Latin world, Francophonia are but pale shadows of the greatness given to the world by "this Sceptered Isle". It's remarkable that so many Britons have bought into being ashamed of their Empire past. To the contrary, they should be enormously proud of their historical achievement.
Oh, and I still really like this! To be sung Con Gusto!
