Female U.S. war resister could be deported Thursday
"A number of people hoisting placards and waving peace signs gathered in Toronto Wednesday for an eleventh-hour protest against the planned deportation of U.S. war resister Kimberly Rivera.As far as I'm concerned, where did she get the unmitigated gall to think Canada would provide her with sanctuary while our young men and women have sacrificed their lives over in the "sandbox". Good riddance. And to those Canadians who may have given her false hope, a pox on all your houses.
The demonstration was one of several planned across the country calling on Immigration Minister Jason Kenney to stop a deportation order that would see Rivera returned to the U.S. by Thursday.
Rivera, a former U.S. Army private who fled to Canada in 2007 to avoid further military service, received the order after a negative pre-removal risk assessment.
That assessment ruled she would not be in danger of punishment, torture or loss of life if deported."

She is not a "war resistor", she is a deserter. She is not a "a former U.S. Army private", she is a current U.S. Army private, in deserter status.
What the military is doing with most of these deserters is a court-martial, conviction, sentence to 1 year in the military prison at Leavenworth, then a Dishonorable Discharge. Sounds appropriate for this woman who enlisted of her free will, then broke her oath and betrayed her country, by deserting when she found war just too icky.
After that, we can safely count on her to slither back to Canada, to be a welfare mother again.
