Giant 'balloon of magma' inflating under Greek island could cause first eruption in more than 60 years
"A giant 'balloon of magma' is inflating under the volcanic Greek island of Santorini, a study has warned.Don't tell Al Gore et al.
The balloon is so big it has forced the island upwards by 14cm between January 2011 and April this year."
I remember reading somewhere a while ago that there is a similar bubble under the surface of much of the northern plains/prairies of the continent I live on. It's what makes all those geyzers in Yellowstone National Park so hot and likely the hot springs in Banff and Moose Jaw. If it ever blows we're all gonna be toast. Mom Nature just keeps on going no matter what her most stupid children do or think they can do.

All Bush's fault!
That's it! By God, I think you've got it. Now we can rest at ease after having absolved ourselves of all blame.
There was an excellent program on the cable History Channel about the great Santori volcano/earthquake/tsunami of approx 2,000 BC. This had huge global consequences and is thought by some historians and archeologists to be the event that ultimately caused the myth of Atlantis.

So much lost history! I just can't understand how some people think the study of history and archeology to be dry and boring. (That includes one of my nephews, a bright university-educated accountant who should know better!)
Tell your nephew that I think accounting is boring.
Too bad the most interesting subjects don't lead to lucrative careers like bean counting.
Oh boy... not again. I better move to Jerusalem for the rest of my days. To be washed away by a Greek-made tsunami is not in my plans or dreams.
