Hollywood actors protesting oilsands trying to rebuild careers: Chamber official

"A U.S. Chamber of Commerce official says Hollywood actors taking part in protests against Alberta's oilsands and a controversial pipeline are trying to rebuild their careers.

Karen Harbert says the actors and celebrities are trying to get their names back into newspapers.

Canadians Dave Thomas and Graham Greene say they support a protest planned for Monday in Ottawa against the oilsands and the proposed Keystone XL pipeline.

Last month, Darryl Hannah and Margot Kidder were arrested in Washington, D.C., in a similar protest against the pipeline, which still must receive final government approval in the U.S.

Harbert, who was speaking to the Calgary Chamber of Commerce, says the rallies go largely unnoticed by the majority of Americans.

She points out that killing the pipeline from Alberta to the Gulf Coast wouldn't shut down the oilsands."
