Following the Links

After reading this, which turned up on news.google.ca:

Sennels Says He Never Talked to Psychiatrist About Muslim Inbreeding

...my interest was piqued.  I went looking for articles on the genetic consequences of inbreeding, like this one and this.  There's a reason why most, if not all, cultures have rules prohibiting marriage between close relatives, Islam being a significant exception. (See link above re. Sennels)
 
My search turned up this old goody which I first encountered about four or five years ago.




Of course, we all know that Europe's Royal Families had plenty of genetic misfits in their family trees, like Charles II of Spain: How Inbreeding Killed Off a Line of Kings

But I wonder if it explains this:



















Or is he the missing link?

Historically speaking, among European nobles, there's been "Charles the Bold", "Charles the Hammer" ... and I suspect this one, the offspring of Elizabeth and her cousin Philip, will go down in history as "Charles the Stupid".
