CBC Kicks Up a Shit Storm

...without a single occurrence of the word "Harper".

But this one is BIG, and I mean BIG!!!

Let's hope Neil MacDonald has a well trained and armed contingent of body guards.

And then there are these angles:

Saad Hariri himself is doing everything possible to stay alive.

Hariri defends Hezbollah over murder

Of course, that comes from Iran's state press.

And Hezbollah shrugs it off.

What's this?! CBC actually did some real investigative journalism?!

Actually, it was just a matter of just collating a lot of the puzzle pieces out there. According to a variety of articles elsewhere, high level politicians and intelligence officials -Israeli, other Middle Eastern, European, N. American- long ago came to the conclusion that Hezbollah-Syria-Iran were behind the Lebanese PM's assassination and that Israel was not involved.

It'll be morbidly interesting watching the UN and the Western powers in general worm out of publicly acknowledging this and doing something about it. The tentacles of so much Middle Eastern evil go back to Iran. If the UN and the Western powers don't even want to stop the Iranian nuclear weapons program, a real threat to global peace, they surely aren't going to do anything about the assassination of a Lebanese politician.

The underlying moral here is that weakness invites more aggression from tyrants. The greater the weakness and the longer it goes on, the worse is the ultimate confrontation when confrontation with evil becomes unavoidable. 1930's redux.

The great Spanish philosopher-historian Georges Santayana wisely observed that "we learn from history that we don't learn from history".

Nevertheless, the CBC report is being blamed and/or used as an excuse to threaten war.

Whoopie! We got ourselves an excuse to kill some more of our opponents!!

What I find interesting is the whole Iran thing right now. Some of the Mad Mullah's are having second thoughts about their whack-job president, and if war breaks out in Lebanon again, there's no telling who will be the big loser - Iran or Lebanon. And Turkey seems to be shitting bricks.

It's interesting that NATO has just decided that the Cold War is actually over and they need to turn their eyes south and southeast, rather than due east (or north and west, if your perspective is NORAD's). And they've got Russia on side, or so it seems, but I'm not convinced any of them trust Russia any more than I do.

This has all the hallmarks of a potential turning point in history. Whatever happens, I hope Iran in the big loser.

I guess if Lebanon goes to war we should be ready to hire a few ships to bring back those thousands of stranded Canadian "tourists".

Heavy sigh. It's rather discouraging, isn't it. We've had all this time, yet nothing has been done about citizens of convenience.

Yes Louise wouldn't it be great if we could just get a conservative government in power instead of the Harper party.

A conservative government with a real majority would be in order, real soon please. But I despair every time I read the comments following a story on the web from CBC or any of the major big dailies, like the Red Star and the Flop and Flail. But perhaps the folks who comment there simply reflect who the MSM speaks for, and not the sentiments of the ROC. One can only hope.

If we had a real conservative government with a real majority with real balls, the CBC would be toast.
