First, There Was Jayson Blair,

...then there were the years of blatant bias in reportage on Iraq. Now this.

Kind of depressingly meta to have to be the NYT reporter reporting on the plagiarizing NYT reporter.

I'd hate to be a journalist these days. The death spiral is taking so long and I'm sure the big ones like the NYT are operating on a fraction of their former revenue, which means they don't have enough staff to do what needs to be done to reclaim their glory days. At least the NYT came clean about it this time. Now if we could just get the CBC to have to rely on their own revenue, I wouldn't mind their bias. It would just be very entertaining watching them learn what it's like in the real world - like having to produce something that people are actually willing to pay for!! What a novel concept!!

I was in California a few months ago - I bought a copy of the LA times. I was so excited - I was going to see journalism at its best.

Sadly, it turned out to be a Kreske's flyer with some community reporting.

Depressing.

Our National Post is a treasure - and it keeps on getting better and better - Rex Murphy, Conrad Black, George Jonas - my Saturdays are happy ones!
