...and Mr. Double Standard Personified, Al Sharpton. This is just what I've been thinking.
About Me
- Name: Louise
- Location: Canada
A stubble jumper is a prairie farmer. I'm from Saskatchewan and my dad was a farmer, so the name is apt. "Redneck" needs no explanation. It's anyone who disagrees with a lunatic leftie. My blog is mostly about the Middle East but other issues also catch my eye and get me going. I monitor comments to keep out trolls and lunatic lefties. Anyone who is zealously anti-American and anti-democracy in the Middle East is NOT welcome.

Sort of long, excerpted from other sources, quite funny, and for once I'll give Sharpton credit:
"Senator Joseph R. Biden of Delaware, spent the day struggling to explain his description of Senator Barack Obama, the Illinois Democrat running for president, as “the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy.”"
[Controversy ensued]
"Mr. Sharpton said that when Mr. Biden called him to apologize, Mr. Sharpton started off the conversation reassuring Mr. Biden about his hygienic practices. “I told him I take a bath every day,” Mr. Sharpton said."
I'll be happy when certain people in the US stop using race for gain. (Interestingly, I wouldn't have quickly pegged Rev Wright as AfrAm, due to his appearance.)
To paraphrase Iowahawk - MLK longed for the day when people would focus more on the content of one's character rather than the colour of one's skin. Now, it seems neither matters.
Kids are far more sensible than adults in this regard. Until they get corrupted
Yup. Mirrors our Indian Industry to a T.
I know that many terrible things befell Natives in the 1800s in western Canada. Terrible. (As mentioned on other sites, Crowfoot and Poundmaker are two of my heroes). I also feel bad for many Métis, back in that time, not belonging to either world.
But that was then, and this is now. Modern Canada isn't a bunch of white people oppressing the natives anymore. Modern Canada is an amalgam of people from across the planet.
Please please please let's get beyond phenotype and genotype - and let's look backwards to learn, but not to govern
The thing about the Indian Industry is it's mostly lawyers, consultants, academics, civil servants and politicians making fat salaries and charging big fees. The ordinary man-on-the-street Indian doesn't have much to show for it, especially if he's a member of the wrong family/clan. Housing on most reserves is a prime example. The Band Councils determine who gets the new houses and if you're not connected to the right families, you're shit out of luck.
You'll likely recall that incident where two very young, scantily clothed children were left in the freezing snow to die while their already drunken father went right on going to a house where he continued to drink. He didn't think of his kids until he had sobered up. As bad as that was in itself, the FSIN was right in there making excuses and demanding more money from the Feds. There was no talk of expecting him to accept responsibility for his actions. They thrive off of the misery of their own people.
