Speaking of Free Speech

UPDATE: Note the Calgary Herald has the balls to allow comments.
---------------------------------------
I wonder why CBC isn't allowing comments on this story?

Three guesses: 1) Any mention of the fact that this happened just outside a "Manitoba Housing complex" would be terribly politically incorrect; 2) Any suggestion that the name Eaglestick might be of Aboriginal origin would be terribly politically incorrect; 3) Any opportunity for people to point out the relevancy of those facts, plus the fact that the housing complex seems to be wild drunken party central would be horrifically politically incorrect. I mean, look at what happened in the comments on this CBC story.

The truth will set you free, folks. Quit denying it.

And God bless Tyler Bilsborrow. My guess is the baby had awoken and was crying at 4:30 am. That's what little ones do. Crying fussy babies are a strain on anyone's patience. The parents are calling Bilsborrow a hero, and surely he is, but if they were having a wild all night party, you can bet the little one was being neglected, and probably not for the first time. Yes, you don't beat the crap out of a little 14 month old toddler, but something has to be said of parents who would be drinking and carousing at that hour of the night with a baby in the home. Didn't anyone notice Eaglestick had taken the kid outside? If you haven't got what it takes to provide a safe and wholesome environment for your child, then I'm afraid you're not off the hook.

Let's hope the child has no permanent damage.
