Can you hear us now?

"The scientists attending this conference come from a dozen countries, including Australia, Canada, England, France, New Zealand, Russia, and Sweden. They have published in every leading scientific journal in the world. They have stood up to political correctness and defended the scientific method at a time when doing so threatens their research grants, tenure, and ability to get published."

Can you hear us now? Global warming is not a crisis.

The 2008 International Conference on Climate Change

The 2009 conference is currently underway.

So when you post this kind of thing, do you actually think that people won't follow the links see what you're actually linking to"

Did you realize that the eighteen organizations sponsoring this little shindig, not ONE is science based? Not a single university or institution of lab actually conducting science research? That they're conservative lobby groups?

The closest thing to a "science" institute on this amusing list of propagandists is the hilarious "Oregon Institute of Science and Medicine", which offers a home schooling kit to "teach your children to teach themselves and to acquire superior knowledge as did many of America's most outstanding citizens in the days before socialism in education."

The OISM website also offers educational links to a creationist website and an online discussion group called RobinsonUsers4Christ, "for Bible & Trinity-believing, God-fearing, 'Jesus-Plus-Nothing-Else' Christian families who use the Curriculum to share ideas and to get and give support."

OISM is probably best known for claiming to have gotten the support of "15,000 scientists" for an anti-global warming petition. Turned out that they didn't actually screen the online signatories to see who was a scientist and who wasn't.

So what we have here is not a science conference at all, despite it's rather grandiose title. Did you know that?

By the way, Balb, the list of conference presenters starts on page 13. I would like to know how your credentials compare.

I don't have a PhD. That would be my wife.

But sorry, I don't understand what your question has to do with the fact that this supposed "science" conference is entirely organized and funded by anti-global warming lobby groups.

You really don't find that calls the scientific merits of this group into question? Seriously?

You wouldn't be the tiniest bit suspicious if you read that the "2009 International Conference on Cancer and Smoking" had been funded by the tobacco industry?

Any UN sponsored group, such as the IPPC is in the same league as the tobacco industry, Balb. All political and very little, if any, credibility when it comes to honest and rigorous scientific research.

Really?

Well, the publications and institutions whose findings feed the IPCC reports are actually research labs, universities, and climatology institutions.

The institutions sponsoring the conference you cite are lobby groups.

Why do you feel their "science" is superior to the science produced by actual scientific institutions?

I am reviewing the list of presenters as you suggested, btw. It's pretty funny. There aren't actually many climate people there.

Incidentally, I recognize and appreciate the new moderate tone of our exchange. I'm not the prince of evil you seem to believe I am, and I actaully do enjoy a good discussion with people I disagree with.
