The Humble Rat...

Say It Ain't So

French government under threat after election blow

"French President Francois Hollande is preparing a probable shake-up of his unpopular government after his Socialist Party suffered losses in nationwide municipal elections seen as a referendum on his leadership.

Disappointment with the Socialists' handling of the economy drove many voters to conservative or anti-immigrant far-right candidates in nationwide municipal elections Sunday.

Hollande met Monday morning Prime Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault, according to officials who spoke on condition of anonymity because the talks were not meant to be public knowledge.

Ayrault's job is on the line and he said himself that the elections were "a defeat for the government." The government has failed to fulfill its promises to cut France's more than 10 percent unemployment and boost growth, which was just 0.3 percent last year, according to figures released Monday."

"Changes are especially expected in the Finance Ministry, which has scared away investors with high and complex taxes and struggled to find solutions to chronic low growth and growing joblessness."

How could it be??!! /sarc

In Honour Of Earth Hour

I'm still planning what I'll do tomorrow between 8:30 pm and 9:30 pm, but you can be sure it will involve plenty of electricity. Every light and every appliance possible will be maxed out. I might take the car for a spin as well.

Two More...

...missing and murdered (?) women: Deadly Regina fire now a murder investigation
"The Regina Police Service (RPS) is looking for the two women who lived in a home that was the scene of a fire Sunday where a man's burned body was found inside."
[---]
"Later in the day, RPS put out a request to the public to find two women who lived in that house with Yacevich. Rosalyn Faye Wilm, 41, and Sarah Dawn Louisa Wilm, 22, haven't been seen since the day of the fire. The women's family is now concerned for their safety, and police aren't sure what role, if any, the women had in the fire or death.

Rosalyn Wilm is an aboriginal woman, 5'1" with a thin build, long straight brown and grey hair, brown eyes, and has some broken or missing lower teeth. Sarah Wilm is also an aboriginal woman with a medium build with long black hair and brown eyes."
[--]
"“They partied a lot. They drank a lot. A few weeks ago, police were called about six or seven times in one day to that house. So that’s just what they did was party,” said one man who gave the name Mike. “It was bound to happen sooner or later.”

Mike said there were often a lot of people going in and out of the house, including the day before it burned down.

“That day it happened—yeah, there was a lot of drinking going on,” he said."
Of course, this is the evil Whiteman's fault.

Science And Sex

Semen can affect a woman's brain

Funny. This story was published a year and a half ago but it's still making the rounds. I don't remember where I found it, but it caught my eye, in any case. I thought it might say semen made women dumber, but no. Now why would I think that?? Bad, Louise! Bad!

They Must Be...

...getting the message:

FSIN vice-chiefs take pay cut
"Meeting for most of the day Wednesday at the Allan Bird Memorial Centre in Prince Albert, chiefs voted nearly unanimously to cut the salaries of the four vice-chiefs from $100,000 per year to $75,000. The $215,000 salary of FSIN Chief Perry Bellegarde remains unaffected, as it’s funded by the national Assembly of First Nations (AFN).

Chiefs also voted overwhelmingly to take $500,000 in casino revenue from the First Nations Trust."
More here, here and here.

Long story short. They're cutting the fat and they ain't crying about "inherent and treaty rights". Will wonders ever cease?

And don't you just love it that Bellegarde is exempted?

Islam Can Be Reformed????

It's time to reclaim Islam from the fanatics. Here's how.

I've always felt that what we are witnessing today in the Muslim world is the same thing that happened in what used to be called Christendom. A reformation is underway and, like the one in Europe, it's gonna be bloody and will take a while. I'll be long gone, by the time it's finished, that is if they succeed, so I won't be able to say "I told you so.".

Must Start Using Some of These

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

Environmental issues largely ignored in election campaign In La Belle Provence, that is.

More.
"In the weeks after the Parti Québecois took power, it made several decisions that had environmental groups cheering.

Three former environmental activists were appointed as provincial ministers, the government shut down the Gentilly-2 nuclear power plant, extended a moratorium on shale-gas operations, cancelled a loan to the province’s last asbestos mine, and put uranium development on hold until environmental assessments could be done.

Fast forward 18 months, and the picture is very different.

Just before the election campaign began, four of the environmental groups that are members of a government climate-change committee said the government hadn’t been acting quickly enough on climate change and the only plan the province has for tackling the issue was adopted by the previous Liberal government — parts of which have yet to be enacted."
